Brown University 5 300x194 Brown University Physical Environment Part (2)Many of the Brown buildings retain the look and feel of the late 1800s and Brown undergraduates like New England’s old customs and ways, reminiscent of England which they have likely visited. Many of the 220 buildings on the hill were built more recently. The large Life Science complex joins the “Walk” an interconnecting network of walkways and parks.

Landscape architecture and tradition are also enhanced by the Van Wickle wrought iron gate which opens and closes for incoming and graduating students. It gives the feel of closeness and options with so many pathways to get to classes. It is representative of the academic freedom here.

Students drawn to Brown love the possibility of experimenting with courses and enjoy the pleasing physical landscape for its originality. The entire environment speaks to a classy intellectual lifestyle. Students here want to be in the midst of it.
